Patch-it’s Repair Corner: How to mend a broken shoe sole

One of the things we see quite often at cosplay repair are shoes with their soles coming loose. While this seems like the end of the line for your footwear, this doesn’t have to be the case! Here’s a quick tutorial on repairing those broken soles and breathing a little more life into your shoes!

Ingredients:

-1x Broken sole (shoe)

-1x Shoe Glue

-Some Electrical (PVC) tape/Elastic Bands

Method:

Step 1.

Setting up in a well-ventilated space, have all your materials on hand. Try to have some newspaper or other materials to help catch any glue drips that may arise!

Step 2.

Apply a bunch of shoe glue between the sole and the shoe, making sure to cover all the points of contact!

Step 3.

Apply pressure by wearing/standing with the shoe on.

Step 4.

Wrap the shoe firmly in electrical tape/elastic bands to assist with keeping the sole and the shoe firmly connected for around 24hrs, to give the shoe glue ample time to cure.

(Note: I recommend PVC/electrical tape, as it is relatively easy to peel off, unlike other stronger tapes such as cloth tapes, which may leave an adhesive residue once removed.)

Step 5: Once the glue has cured, remove your tape/elastic bands, and enjoy your shoes for many more wears to come!
