KO Me Now: Inside the Star-Studded Street Fighter Movie
It’s time to dust off your arcade memories and warm up your thumbs, because Street Fighter is punching its way back to the big screen, and this time, it’s not just a movie, it’s a boss battle.
Currently in production, the upcoming Street Fighter film is promising to honour the quarter-pumping, button-mashing energy of the iconic 90s game while cranking up the chaos for a whole new generation.

🥋 A 1993 Throwback With a Twist
The film is set in 1993, where estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are reluctantly pulled back into the World Warrior Tournament by the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang). What starts as a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury quickly unravels into a deadly conspiracy that could pit the heroes against each other… and their past.
In other words, Hadoukens will be thrown. Roundhouses will land. And yes, someone’s getting KO’d.
🎬 A Dream Team of Chaos
The film is helmed by Kitao Sakurai, the mastermind behind Bad Trip, meaning we can expect a mix of adrenaline-fuelled action and unhinged cinematic energy. The cast lineup is a fighting game roster come to life:
-
Noah Centineo as Ken Masters
-
Andrew Koji as Ryu
-
Callina Liang as Chun-Li
-
Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma
-
David Dastmalchian as M. Bison
-
Cody Rhodes as Guile
-
Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki
-
Eric André as Don Sauvage
-
Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim
-
With Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog
-
And Jason Momoa as Blanka (!!)
Also starring:
Orville Peck (Vega), Olivier Richters (Zangief), Hirooki Goto (E. Honda), Rayna Vallandingham (Juli), Alexander Volkanovski (Joe), Kyle Mooney (Marvin), and Mel Jarnson (Cammy).
This isn’t just a cast, it’s a fan-service fever dream. Wrestlers. Pop icons. Indie darlings. Even Orville Peck is in here, presumably serving masked cowboy slay as Vega.

💥 Why This Could Be the Street Fighter Movie We Deserve
Let’s be honest, gaming adaptations have been a mixed bag (no shade, 1994’s Street Fighter is iconic chaos). But with a lineup this stacked, a period setting, and a director who thrives on absurd spectacle, this might be the button-mashing love letter fans have been waiting for.
With Jason Momoa as a live-action Blanka and 50 Cent as Balrog, we’re officially sold. Someone get Capcom on the phone, this is going to be a critical hit.
