Crunchyroll Announces Exciting New Titles at NYCC 2024

Over the weekend, Crunchyroll took center stage at New York Comic Con, hosting its highly anticipated Industry Panel. With anime fans eagerly awaiting new announcements, Crunchyroll did not disappoint, revealing several exciting titles coming soon to its global streaming service. Here's a rundown of what was announced:

OKITSURA: Fell in Love with an Okinawan Girl, but I Just Wish I Knew What She's Saying

Kicking off the announcements was OKITSURA: Fell in Love with an Okinawan Girl, but I Just Wish I Knew What She's Saying, an anime adaptation based on the manga The Dialect of the Girl I Fell in Love With in Okinawa is Too Difficult to Deal With, created by Egumi Sora. This coming-of-age, slice-of-life romance tells the story of Teruaki Nakamura, a Tokyo transfer student who falls in love with a girl in Okinawa. However, there's a catch—he can't understand her unique Okinawan dialect! With the help of his new friend Higa-san, Nakamura embarks on a journey of cross-cultural romance on the beautiful southern island of Japan.

Set to stream on Crunchyroll in January 2025, the series is written and directed by Shin Itagaki (So I'm a Spider, So What?) and Shingo Tanabe (I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too), with animation by studio Millepensee.

Go For It, Nakamura-kun!

Another exciting reveal was the anime adaptation of Go For It, Nakamura-kun!, based on the popular manga by Syundei. This high school romance focuses on Nakamura, a shy boy who falls in love at first sight with his dreamy classmate Hirose. The twist? They haven’t met yet, and Nakamura’s clumsiness threatens to bungle things before they even begin!

Fans at NYCC were treated to the world premiere of the first trailer and key visual. The anime, slated for release in 2025, will be directed, written, and designed by Aoi Umeki (Pop Team Epic), with animation produced by studio Drive (KONOSUBA: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!).

I’m a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, So I Might as Well Try Mastering Magic

Fantasy enthusiasts have something to look forward to with the January 2025 release of I’m a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, So I Might as Well Try Mastering Magic. This anime, adapted from the light novel and manga by Nazuna Miki, Kabocha, and Rio Akisaki, follows the story of Liam Hamilton, a noble whose family is on the verge of collapse. With nothing left to lose, Liam decides to use this time to learn and master magic. His journey takes him on a path of discovery and power as he tries to save his family from ruin.

The series is directed by Kenichi Ishikura (Sakura Trick), with series composition by Tatsuya Takahashi (The Faraway Paladin) and animation produced by Studio DEEN and Marvy Jack.

ZENSHU

Making its world premiere at NYCC was a brand new trailer for ZENSHU, an original anime from MAPPA, the studio behind hits like JUJUTSU KAISEN, Chainsaw Man, and Attack on Titan Final Season. ZENSHU follows Natsuko Hirose, a young animator whose debut anime becomes a massive hit, propelling her to stardom as an up-and-coming director. However, her next project—a romantic comedy about first love—proves challenging, as Natsuko has never experienced love herself. The show explores her struggles to understand love and deliver her next great project. Fans can expect this series to stream in January 2025.

Directed by Mitsue Yamazaki (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle) and written by Kimiko Ueno (Delicious in Dungeon), this anime has all the makings of a heartwarming success.

Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE

Rounding out the anime announcements, Crunchyroll offered fans a sneak peek of Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE, the final season of the beloved franchise. Directed by Shuhei Matsushita (Dr. STONE NEW WORLD), this upcoming season will bring the epic crafting adventure to a thrilling conclusion. Dr. STONE follows Senku Ishigami, a brilliant young scientist determined to rebuild civilization after a mysterious event turns humanity to stone. With the help of his childhood friend Taiju, Senku embarks on a mission to use science to revive the world.

The final season is set to air in January 2025, with animation produced by TMS Entertainment.

With a lineup packed full of romance, fantasy, action, and gaming, Crunchyroll’s announcements from NYCC 2024 promise to deliver something for every anime fan. Be sure to mark your calendars for these exciting releases coming soon to Crunchyroll!
