Cosplay Central Crown Championships set to return to PAX Aus 2023
Get out those sewing machines, and start warming up that heat gun! The Australian leg of the Cosplay Central Crown Championships is returning for another year to celebrate some of the best and most creative craftsmanship that the nation has to offer. Set to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre this October as part of PAX Aus, there is no cosplay competition quite as
prestigious as this.
The Cosplay Central Crown Championships challenges contestants as they go head to head to compete for the title of Australian Champion of Cosplay. Regarded as a stepping stone to cosplay greatness, it also offers the chance for the winner to compete in front of a global audience, with the final slated to be held in Chicago at C2E2 in 2024.
“The cosplay community is like no other,” said Katherine ‘Kitty’ Grace, Content & Community Manager for PAX Aus. “PAX is excited to once again work with Cosplay Central to offer such a prestigious Global championship and to celebrate the incredible creative talents of our cosplay community.”
Moderating the event with be Sydney-based comedian and host, Harry Jun. Alongside him a lineup of familiar faces, the championships will be judged by a carefully curated judging panel that includes 2022 winner AltF4 Cosplay, alongside Heidzdee Cosplay, Vera Chimera and DatBakaCos all Cosplay Champions and icons in the world of cosplay.
The Cosplay Central Crown Championship finals and judging will tie off PAX Aus taking place on the PAX Aus Main Stage on Sunday afternoon. Applications are now open to eligible entrants and will close at midnight, July 25th, 2023.
PAX Aus’ Cosplay Theatre is returning for another weekend of panels and workshops, complemented by the Cosplay Lounge being host to cosplay meetups and a repair station, complete with change rooms and makeup stations.
