CONVENTION NEWS: DreamHack Melbourne will NOT be returning for 2025

In an announcement made today over social media the DreamHack Melbourne team have stated the much loved event will not be returning in 2025 and there are no plans for another Australian event in the foreseeable future.

"It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the news that DreamHack Melbourne will not be returning in 2025, and that there are currently no plans to hold further DreamHack events in Australia in the foreseeable future." the announcement stated. 

This news comes as a shock to fans who flocked to the event each year with hundreds expressing their heartbreak in the comments. 

"DreamHack was my favourite australian con by far - from the community and support for cosplayers, and how many new friends I met from all over the place, honestly super sad to see it go" Sagocos a longtime attendee stated. 

This announcement also begs the question about the future of ECG in Australia, with DreamHack Melbourne hosting the first ever Australian preliminary round at their 2024 event.
