BBNO$ Talks Music, Internet Fame, and the Art of Not Giving a F***

There’s something about BBNO$ that makes you want to grin before he even says a word. Maybe it’s his carefree swagger, maybe it’s the playful chaos that bleeds into his music, or maybe it’s just the fact that he opens an interview with, “You can call me baby if you want.”

BBNO$ is the kind of artist who’s made an entire career out of not overthinking things. “It’s really not that deep,” he says of his creative process. “I get jacked as I possibly can off of caffeine and hope for the best with my friends. It’s basically just like meeting up with the dudes and trying to make the best song possible.”

That laid-back approach might sound unserious, but behind the caffeine highs and chaos lies someone who understands his craft and the internet better than most.

“I started listening to UKG and dubstep 15/20 years ago, and now it’s almost full circle, and that’s the type of music that I’m making right now,” he explains. “But I really also love alternative music.”

For BBNO$, inspiration isn’t about chasing trends; it’s about following what moves him. “Anything that really gets me moving, I have a certain ear that I would like to say is delicate, and I don’t like listening to much music unless I really, really, really like it.”

If there’s one thing BBNO$ believes in, it’s authenticity, even when the internet is built to reward the opposite. “I think the art of not giving a fuck is a very important message to convey to your audience,” he says. “Also, I think from growing up in a very healthy household has given me the ability to stand on the right side of history and move forward with love.”

That love and humour bleed through his work. Ask him about a lyric that still makes him laugh, and he doesn’t miss a beat: “‘Y equals MX plus B minus E I want slop.’ Wouldn’t say it makes me proud, but it’s defs absurd.

Having grown up online, BBNO$ has an innate understanding of how digital culture works. “I have always understood the Internet and how it moves since I have been on it since I have been a little boy,” he says. “My persona online is just how I articulate my positivity through to my fan base.”

But despite his viral success, he insists the web hasn’t shaped him as much as people might think. “I wouldn’t really necessarily say that my persona, my personal being, has been shaped dramatically by the Internet, though.”

BBNO$’s relationship with his fans is pure energy. “When I was in Stockholm, this one show, this 15/16 year-old kid was holding up a phone and his phone said ‘I know every single lyric to one of your songs,’” he recalls. “So obviously I ended up pulling him up on stage, and he knew every single lyric to one of my songs, even deep cuts that I wasn’t even playing on tour. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my entire life.”

It’s those moments that remind him why he started. “I never thought that this would be possible, but I just love making music. Every time I get lost and confused about what I’m doing this for, I turn around, go make music, and then everything makes sense again.”

Beyond the music, BBNO$ has also carved out a reputation for his love of cosplay, something he treats with the same whimsical energy as his sound. “It’s just fun,” he says. “Everyone has such a good time specifically on Halloween — why can’t people just have more fun and be more whimsical? I think it perfectly embodies my musical direction and personality.”

His dream cosplay? “Shit, I do not know, I feel like I’ve done everything I’ve wanted to do this year,” he laughs. “I wanna do this concept of Iron Man/Ironmouse, but we have yet to do that. It would be very cool though.”

As for performing in costume, he’s already been there. “I mean, I already did it as Sonic, that shit was so cursed. I got off stage, and all of my makeup was dripping off my body. It was hilarious. Would definitely do again.”

Touring can get chaotic, but BBNO$ keeps his head on straight through a simple philosophy: “Exercise as much as you can, drink as much water as you can, and drink an absolute metric fuck ton of ginger!”

If he could teleport anywhere after a show, it wouldn’t be to an afterparty or a beach, but home. “Probably back with my parents and my four-year-old nephew,” he says warmly. “I just spent a week with my family, and it was so unbelievably needed. I love my family with all my heart, and I miss them so very much.”

Still, his nerdier side shines when the topic turns to video games. “The horadric cube from Diablo 2,” he answers instantly when asked what item he’d bring into real life. “It’s basically a crafting table where you originally had to figure out recipes on your own that would be able to craft specific items. I don’t think it would have very much usefulness in this damn age, but it would be a very cool ornament in my living room.”

As 2025 approaches, BBNO$ sums up his current state of mind in four words: “Cringe but free.”

It’s a fitting mantra for an artist who’s built a career on joy, absurdity, and unapologetic self-expression. Whether he’s cosplaying Sonic, vibing to dubstep, or begging ASICS for a collab (“For the love of God — I have worn their shoes for the past 15 years, all I’m asking for is a collab, please”), BBNO$ is living proof that freedom and fun go hand in hand.

And honestly? The world could use a little more of both.
